After completing the main story campaign in Diablo 4, the developers at Blizzard want you to spend all of your time grinding through the rather extensive endgame content that is available to you. The developer diary, affectionately titled "Into the Endgame," provides a wealth of information regarding the how, where, and why of the situation. Diablo 4 Runes is, in essence, a combination of different activities that are dispersed all over the world, and there are over 120 hellish Capstone Dungeons to explore. This presents the ideal opportunity to grind and level up your character to their maximum potential. If that isn't terrifying enough for you, those hellish dungeons can be transformed into nightmare dungeons by employing the use of a nightmare sigil. Consider this to be the equivalent of a hard mode, with enemies, objectives, and affixes that are significantly more challenging. Because, you know, gamers enjoy a good dose of agony when they play their video games. One such example is the Hellgate affix, which, when applied to a dungeon, causes random portals to appear throughout the area. These portals allow random enemies to enter the dungeon, making life significantly more difficult for your party. You will be rewarded with additional experience and potent loot in addition to this.

After acquiring these powerful items, one can make them into even more powerful legendary items by discovering Aspects hidden throughout dungeons and adding them to a Codex of Power. These legendary items can then be passed down through generations.
