Has Mount Everest's height changed over time? Yes! In 2015, a big earthquake in Nepal made Everest shrink by about 1 inch (2.54 cm), says the Survey Department of Nepal. Before that, in 1955, the mountain was measured at 29,029 feet (8,848 meters). Scientists keep checking its height because the mountain keeps changing.
