Halloween, as we know it today, has evolved from ancient Celtic traditions. The Celts celebrated Samhain, a festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, on the night of October 31st. They believed that the boundary between the living and the dead was blurred on this night, allowing spirits to roam freely.
