A.K. Gilbert was born in Richlands, Virginia, in 1984, and grew up with a strong passion for narrative and character development. Gilbert's interest in fantasy adventure was sparked early on by Gene Roddenberry and Tolkien's legendary stories, as well as films such as Conan, Willow, and Red Sonja. His interests in history, poetry, and the paranormal run throughout his work, providing depth and richness to his writing.
